If you visit St Vincent and the Grenadines and long for the local food of the land, you must go to Veejays in downtown Kingstown, St. Vincent. When I got there, I was surprised to find how small the place was, and not surprised how many people were coming in and out . Majority of them taking carry outs, the others, dining in. The limited dining area is populated by orange and green furniture, actually very colorful, with an adjoining bar. They had run out of Pelau (a spicy staple with rice, vegetables and meat cooked in one pot). So I settled for the chicken roti. Wrapped like a burrito, with a nice half cooked dough and stuffed with more than generous amounts of chicken (bones and all). Accompaniments were a thick grainned yellow rice and a wonderful serving of black beans. There was fresh flavor, tenderness and satisfaction at every bite. Service was exceptional. Wow. Must go back for the Pelau.

The atmosphere was great however it was the lunch rush hour, and it took almost an hour for my food to get to me. The food is not how I remembered it to be, but it wasn’t bad. It’s a great place to go if you’re going for drinks tho!

Besides the baked chicken being cold, uncooked and very bloody. The atmosphere is nice. The service in the beginning was average. Just be prepared to receive a horrible attitude when you share your concerns about the quality of food you are eating when the fault is on the restaurant. Serving uncooked and cold meat to your patrons should be taking with a better manner than I was dealt. No apologies or partial compensation was given.

It's hard to find food in St Vincent as a vegan but Vee Jay's have a buffet with vegan options as well as a la carte. The owners are lovely - so kind and thoughtful to our needs. Food is extremely tasty. Make sure you add hot sauce if you want a kick. All fresh and flavour some. Also a great chill spot for beers and drinks. Will definitely be going there again.

Visting Vincy and was taken here to grab dinner. Was told everyone raves it. Got there 6:45pm and was told the only thing available was chicken roti and that the chef/cook was getting set to leave. I thought online says this place is open until 10pm? How you don't have food? Had no choice but to eat this chicken roti. As a Trini, that was the most tasteless curry ever and the roti was dense and flavourless. Oh have mercy... quality huh??
